Film Group

Cult Fiction ran as a Film Group as part of the national Community Learning Champions scheme, delivered locally through Artworks Creative Communities & Trescom. The scheme was set up to train mentors to deliver access to learning in an informal environment for adults who had become disengaged or intimidated by more structured educational processes and institutions. The scheme is designed as a stepping stone for those wanting to pursue further education.
It ran for 6 months at The Bradford playhouse to help develop their cinematic audience.

The next step is to reach disengaged pockets of Womens Groups in Bradford, either through workshops or Radio. I plan to develop Cult Fiction as a Feminist Film Group adressing key issues in Gender Representation within Western Popular Culture using film as a context. I plan to do this by engaging the audience in critical debate by comparing 2 films each session that have a similar theme but that are separated by time or culture for example.
